BRITT WHITE STUDIO IN THE MEDIA

I vividly remember the excitement when Britt White Studio received its first truly significant piece of design media coverage. We had just completed the Le Bain Penthouse project, on the banks of the Brisbane River in Newstead, when Amy Collins-Walker reached out. She’d heard about the jungle-themed bespoke bunk room I had designed for the client’s two young boys and was keen to feature it in The Interiors Addict. I was on cloud nine for a week following that call!

In terms of emotion, however, nothing compared to the elation I felt following a 2023 feature on Blairs Chalet of Dinner Plain. The recognition and accolades we received for our work on Blairs Chalet holds a special place in our hearts. Winning the KBDi Small Bathrooms, VIC 2023 award and receiving a High Commendation for KBDi Bathroom Designer of the Year, VIC 2023 was a moment of pride for the Britt White Studio team…that could only be matched by a feature in The Design Files.

Australia’s most popular digital design publication covers real Australian homes, gardens, art, architecture, interior design, furniture, textiles, homewares, food, and…well, us! ‘A Chalet Renovation With Pastel Interiors In A Famous Alpine Village’ examined, in detail, our reimagination of a McIntyre Partners classic chalet. Paying homage to the original architecture, the renovation highlights McIntyre’s original design while improving its functionality and instilling a more luxurious feel.

Having the opportunity to design a fun and colourful, yet considered insertion under the beams of a McIntyre Partnerships’ design was both an honour and a privilege. It’s a contemporary take on Australian alpine design that I hope will sit on the positive side of opinion now and in the future.

Media coverage doesn’t drive what we do by any means, but being recognised by my peers - especially those who have helped shape who I am as a designer - certainly is a thrill. But once the initial excitement has worn off, the acknowledgement and professional judgement of design experts lasts forever. We’re known for pushing the boundaries of interior design and the media plays a vital role in spreading the work of our little studio, far beyond our home base in Victoria’s High Country, to you - as part of their curation of inspirational projects across Australia and beyond.

I am humbled by every piece of press that features Britt White Studios projects and thankful for our clients who believe in what we do, granting permission for the world to see their residences, holiday homes and commercial premises that we have helped mould.

To make it easier for you to experience what the world has said about us, we’ve compiled a list below. As much as we try to stay on top of the design trade press, whether that be digital or print, there might be a mention or two that has missed us…sorry about that. And then of course there are the newsletters and Instagram (and the design accounts too vast in number to start mentioning) which play an ever-increasing role in bringing the best of design to your phone.

We hope you’ll enjoy this selection as much as we have in creating the content that has been featured.
