A Little More Sydney
STILL DEEPLY BRITT WHITE STUDIO
For the past eight years, Britt White Studio has been proudly based in Bright, the heart of Victoria’s High Country.
This is our home. It’s where the studio has grown, where the majority of our work has taken place and where we’ve built a deeply loyal client base that means a great deal to us.
The High Country has shaped so much of who we are as a Studio, and so much of who Britt is as a designer. The landscape, the seasons, the pace, the materials and the way people live and holiday here. It has all influenced the way Britt thinks about interiors and the way we approach each home.
It’s also where Britt White Studio has become known for highly personal, layered interiors that feel deeply connected to their setting. We’re proud to have built a body of work here over that time, including award winning projects right here in the High Country, with clients who have trusted us with homes that matter deeply to them.
On a personal level, I’m incredibly proud of what Britt has built here. The studio has grown quietly and deliberately, shaped by the homes, landscapes, families and relationships of this region. That matters to us.
That isn’t changing.
Spending more time in Sydney
At the same time, Sydney has become a more active part of our Studio story.
Sydney has always been part of our personal lives. It’s our hometown and we still have strong roots there, particularly on the Northern Beaches. With aging family needs pulling us north more often, and with a growing number of Sydney based enquiries and projects, it feels like the right time to say this more clearly.
Britt White Studio is now actively working across Sydney, including the Northern Beaches, the North Shore, the Eastern Suburbs and wider Metro Sydney.
This isn’t a big shiny "we're taking over the world" announcement. It’s more of a natural progression and widening of where we already work.
The work was already happening
Over the years, we’ve completed projects across multiple regional and metropolitan areas, including Sydney, where there has always been a steady demand for the kind of highly considered and, yes, slightly flamboyant interiors Britt White Studio is known for.
In fact, one of Britt’s very first projects was a Federation terrace in Bronte. That client is still part of the BWS story today, as we’re now working with them again on their new family home in Clovelly. We’ve also worked on a Maroubra family home for clients whose Bright holiday retreat we had already completed, and assisted an ex-colleague from Britt’s corporate days with a material spec for their Bayview mid-century gut renovation.
Those long relationships mean a lot to us. They speak to the trust clients place in Britt, but also to the way the studio has always moved between places when the relationship, the home and the brief feel right.
That demand has grown significantly of late.
We recently completed High Tide, a beautiful project in Freshwater on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, and we’ll be sharing the full story, imagery and details from that home over the next couple of months. Stay tuned for that one.
We’re also now working on a multi-year project in Bondi, with a new project in Mosman due to begin later this year.
The common thread is place.
Designing for place, wherever that place may be
In many ways, it makes sense.
Britt’s skill has always been in designing interiors that respond to place. Not in a surface level way, but in a deeply practical and emotional sense. How the light moves through a home. How a family uses space. What the landscape asks of the materials. What the architecture already knows. What needs to feel calm, durable, beautiful and genuinely lived in.
That way of working has been a natural fit for homes in the High Country, where the environment has such a clear voice.
It also feels entirely right for Sydney.
Coastal homes on the Northern Beaches, layered family homes on the North Shore, townhouses and new builds in the Eastern Suburbs and larger renovations across metro Sydney. These homes all have their own sense of place. Different to the High Country, of course, but no less strong.
There is light, salt, density, heritage, movement, family life and the constant pull between indoors and out. These are homes that need to work hard without feeling overworked. Homes that need to feel refined but relaxed. Homes that need to be personal, not generic.
That is very much our territory.
A note to our community
One of the things we’ve always valued as a Studio is the ability to be mobile and adaptable. We work closely with clients, trades, builders, architects and suppliers wherever the right project takes us, listening carefully and bringing each home together with a clear sense of purpose.
As we spend more time working in Sydney, we’d be grateful for referrals, introductions and recommendations from our existing community.
And for those in Sydney who have followed our work from afar, but may not have realised that working with us was an option, consider this our quiet invitation. We are now taking on the right Sydney projects, particularly across the Northern Beaches, the North Shore and the Eastern Suburbs.
Bright and the High Country remain the heart of our studio. Sydney is becoming a more active part of our work. And we’re excited for what that will make possible.
Thank you for your support!
