BATHROOM DESIGN

Bathrooms may be among the smallest rooms in the house, but they carry a surprising amount of weight. They need to work beautifully, stand up to daily use and still create a moment of calm, energy or escape.

At Britt White Studio, we design bathrooms around the way you want the space to feel as much as how it needs to function. We consider layout, light, storage, fittings and materials together, using colour, texture and detail to create a room that feels personal, tactile and completely resolved.

For some clients, that means confident colour and unexpected combinations. For others, it means a quieter palette with richness coming through texture, natural materials and light. Either way, the goal is the same: a bathroom that feels distinctly yours.

DESIGNED TO WORK. MADE TO BE FELT.

Bathrooms pack an extraordinary number of decisions into a relatively small space. Layout, clearances, storage, lighting, waterproofing, fixtures and finishes all need to work together with precision before we even begin thinking about how the room should make you feel.

And feeling matters. Bathrooms are intensely sensory spaces, shaped by the warmth of light, the texture underfoot, the weight of a fitting, the surface of a tile and the colours that surround you.

For some clients, that’s an invitation to be brave. Rich colour, expressive stone, patterned tile or an unexpected finish can turn a small room into one of the most memorable spaces in the house. For others, the answer is quieter, using natural materials, subtle variation and tactile finishes to create warmth and calm.

The point isn’t to be bold for boldness’ sake. It’s to understand what feels right for you, then use planning, materiality and detail to make that idea work beautifully.

PLANNING

Every millimetre counts. We consider how the room will be used, what needs to fit, how people move through it and where storage belongs before resolving the finer details.

LIGHT

Natural, task and ambient light each play a different role. We consider where light comes from, where it’s needed and how it can shift the mood of the room throughout the day.

MATERIALITY

Bathrooms are made to be touched. Tile, stone, timber, metal and other finishes bring texture, warmth and depth, while their suitability for a wet environment matters just as much as how beautiful they look.

CHARACTER

Colour can be exhilarating in a bathroom, but it should always respond to the person using it. We might push an adventurous brief or pare things back. Either way, we’re looking for personality, not a room borrowed from trend.
