A COUNTRY VETERINARY PRACTICE, REIMAGINED IN PURPLE

Commercial interior design, materials specification and custom furniture design.

Corrugated iron is a familiar sight across Victoria's High Country, but rarely in orchid purple. At Alpine Animal Doctors in Porepunkah, Britt White Studio has given this regional material an unexpected new identity, bringing colour, texture and personality to a contemporary veterinary practice.

Originally a private home, the building had evolved over time to accommodate a growing business. Working with Dr Bek and Mark, Britt White Studio’s commercial interior design approach reimagined the building to create a more welcoming, efficient environment for veterinary staff, animals and their owners. The design reflects the practice's philosophy, Your Other Family Doctor, with a thoughtful balance of clinical practicality and warmth.

The defining feature is powder coated corrugated iron, wrapping around the curved exterior of a consultation room and continuing across the new reception desk. Rich purple, an established part of the practice's identity, is complemented by natural hardwood, softer lavender tones and restrained clinical finishes. The result is a distinctly contemporary interior with a connection to its regional setting.

Thoughtful design for every patient

Beyond its visual transformation, the project involved a substantial rethink of the floorplan. A clearly positioned reception desk, generous waiting area and dedicated feline spaces create a more intuitive experience for visitors, from family pets to the working animals of the Alpine Shire.

Three consultation rooms, including one dedicated to cats, feature custom joinery, practical storage and new clinical fittings. Improved circulation, level flooring and clearer separation between public and staff areas help the practice operate more efficiently, while softer lavender doors and tiled details carry the design language throughout.

Completed by Jon Webb Construction in 2026, the staged renovation allowed Alpine Animal Doctors to remain operational throughout construction. The revised layout also provides room for future growth, supporting a practice that has been caring for its community since 2009.
