MOUNTAIN MIST

THE DETAILS MAKE THE DESIGN

Interior design, materials and colour specification, custom joinery and renovation detailing.

Mountain Mist is a Bright renovation for passionate cyclists Garry and Fiona, transforming a once plain, volume built home into a design led space full of colour, curve, storage and daily ritual.

Modern, practical and perfectly liveable, the home had good bones but little personality. Both clients work from home, so the way the house felt and functioned mattered deeply. It needed to support work, training, recovery, coffee, storage and everyday life while becoming a more personal reflection of their energy, humour and eye for design.

Britt White Studio was engaged to develop the overall design concept, full interior paint specification, materials selection and custom joinery direction, including the master bedroom walk in robe, entry joinery with integrated storage and seating, kitchen beautification and a dedicated coffee bar.

The design response is built around the power of detail. A soft pink ribbon runs from the entry, down the hallway and through to the new coffee bar and living room, tying the home together with warmth and quiet confidence. Oak joinery, darker cabinetry, pastel pink highlights, scalloped wall lining and Fibonacci Assemblage terrazzo bring depth, rhythm and personality to spaces that were previously white and under expressed.

Curves are central to the transformation, softening the boxy nature of the original volume built home and creating a more generous sense of movement. They appear in the coffee bar benchtop, joinery edges and kitchen island, helping the home feel more open, light and human.

The new coffee bar is one of the clearest examples of small moves with big impact. Britt White Studio repurposed half of an old linen cupboard to create more usable living space, while the remaining storage was retained and hidden behind an invisible door within the scalloped wall lining. With oak joinery, a curved terrazzo benchtop and splashback, hot pink drawer internals and a slim timber shelf, the bar turns a daily coffee ritual into a joyful design moment.

Storage was approached with the same care. An empty niche in the entry was transformed into a purposeful arrival point with custom dark cabinetry, an integrated seat, mirror, storage and terrazzo benchtop. In the master bedroom, the custom walk in robe was designed around the clients’ cycling kit, helmets, shoes and daily layers, turning a highly practical need into a warm and character filled space.

The before and after comparison is dramatic. What was once plain and quiet now feels layered, cohesive and full of intent. The scalloped wall lining adds texture, the repeated terrazzo gives continuity, the oak softens, the darker joinery grounds and the pink ribbon leads.
